Ambassador Shamieh Receives Chinese envoy for Middle East peace process

The Assistant of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and expatriates for Asia, Africa and Australia received ambassador Shamieh, received on Sunday at the ministry's headquarters in the city of Ramallah, the Chinese envoy for the Middle East peace process, Ambassador Gong Xiaosheng

Ambassador Shamieh welcomed the Chinese envoy and conveyed greetings from His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas and Foreign minister Dr. Riad Maliki to the People's Republic of China, stressing the importance and durability of the historic bilateral relations between the two countries, and the State of Palestine's appreciation of the role of the Chinese government in Provision of material and logistical support to the Palestine leadership of the Group of 77 and China.

Shamieh also reviewed the Palestinian internal and external political situation, the latest developments on the Palestinian scene, the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip as a result of the blockade, and the daily Israeli practices against our peoples, our sacred lands and our land.

The Parties discussed successive political developments at the regional and international levels, especially in the context of the United States Administration's actions to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to transfer its embassy to it, and in the light of the recent announcement by US president Donald Trump of the recognition of Israeli sovereignty over The occupied Syrian Golan since 1967, in flagrant defiance of the relevant resolutions of international legality, which stipulate that the Golan is an occupied Arab territory.

the so-called "deal of the century" was touched upon, as Shamieh emphasized the Palestinian official and popular attitude of rejecting it, and that the Palestinians hold on to their land and depend on themselves, the Arab nation, the Muslim world and the free world that rejects the logic of American bullying. 

  Ambassador Shamieh stressed the importance of holding the Arab Summit at its thirtieth ordinary session in Tunisia despite the complexities of the Arab situation, but the Palestinian issue is a top priority of its work, as well as other issues such as the Arab rejection of the American resolution on the occupied Golan, The Syrian, Libyan and Yemeni issue and other issues of concern to the Arab nation.

With regard to the Chinese proposal on activating the envoys of the BRICS group in the Palestinian dossier, Shamieh  stressed Palestine's welcome to this proposal, which will bring some balance in the light of the American side's loss of its neutrality and its balance towards the Palestinian cause.

The Chinese envoy stressed the stance of the Chinese leadership in supporting and supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, rejecting Israeli practices, policies of occupation and settler violations, and also stressing his country's position in harmony with the resolutions of international legitimacy to establish an independent Palestinian state Its capital is East Jerusalem. He also stressed that the People's Republic of China continued to provide financial and development support to Palestine, especially in the light of the establishment of the China National Development Cooperation Agency, which is competent to coordinate Chinese aid. The Chinese envoy also called on the Palestinian side to hold in-depth talks with the Chinese side in order to promote development and cooperation opportunities between the two sides.
