Ambassador Shamieh meets with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the State of Palestine
The Assistant Secretary of State for Asia, Africa and Australia, Ambassador Dr. Mazen Shamieh, received in his office at the ministry's headquarters in the city of Ramallah, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the State of Palestine, Ambassador Essam Ashour
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian scene, the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip as a result of the blockade, and the daily Israeli practices against our peoples, our holy places and our land, and the two parties debated the successive political developments at the regional and international levels, especially after the announcement US President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan since 1967, in flagrant defiance of relevant resolutions of international legality, which stipulate that the Golan is an occupied Arab land.
They also stressed the importance of coordinating Arab efforts through the Ministerial committee to confront Israel's plans to penetrate the African continent, where an Arab committee was established under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to affirm the need for the Arab Group to strive for the success of the Committee's work. It should be noted that the Arab Republic of Egypt has a significant balance in Arab and African circles, with the Arab Republic of Egypt assuming the presidency of the African Union for the year 2019.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Dr. Mazen Shamieh, director of the Africa Department/Counsellor Dr. Ahmed Kabha, director of the West African department/Shirin Hamdat.
