Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates: condemns the Brazilian decision and communicates with the Palestinian ambassador to call him for consultation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates condemns in the strongest terms the position expressed by the Brazilian Foreign Minister and the official Brazilian statements concerning the opening of a diplomatic or commercial office in occupied Jerusalem, which it considers to be a flagrant violation of international legality, its resolutions and direct aggression against our people and their rights, In response to the US-Israeli pressure aimed at perpetuating occupation, settlement and Judaization in occupied Jerusalem, annexing them and imposing Israeli law on them by force. The ministry confirms that it will move on Brazil's position, as we did with the previous few States in circumventing international law and United Nations resolutions, by opening a so-called Representative office in Jerusalem linked to the embassy in Tel Aviv or by giving it full diplomatic representation, and we will communicate with our ambassador in Brazil in order to call for consultation and to make appropriate decisions to confront such a situation. The Ministry also asserts that the Palestinian leadership consults with Arab States to define a unified or common Arab position to address this trend in some countries.

The Ministry reaffirms that Jerusalem is an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967, and that the decisions of the United States Administration and occupation and those who swim in their orbit will not create a right of occupation in occupied East Jerusalem and its environs. Our people, steadfast in their leadership and with the bond of Jerusalemites, are able to thwart those colonial decisions.
